El Merkadito is a delightful Caribbean restaurant located in the heart of Puerto Morelos, Mexico. With a stunning view of the coral reef barrier, this eatery offers an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant features both indoor and open-air seating, allowing guests to soak in the vibrant atmosphere while enjoying exceptional cuisine.
Patrons rave about the Oyster Rockefeller and shrimp tacos, both scoring high marks for flavor and freshness. One customer, Martha Edmondson, rated her dishes a perfect 10/10, despite noting a slight uptick in costs for flour tortillas. The local seafood, served by friendly staff, ensures a warm and inviting dining environment.
Another highlight is the catch of the day, where the server, Xiomara, personally presents a whole fish, emphasizing the freshness that El Merkadito prides itself on. Diners can indulge in dishes like guacamole, crab croquettes, ceviche mixto, and expertly prepared fish tacos, all applauded for their quality.
Though some guests mention higher prices, the experience is deemed worthwhile against the backdrop of exceptional service and breathtaking views. Overall, El Merkadito is a must-visit gem for anyone exploring the culinary scene in Puerto Morelos.

Oyster Rockefeller so good 10/10 the shrimp tacos the same, felt a little like being nickeled and dimed being charged 20 Pecos for flour tortillas but OH WELL! Will definitely return.

Absolute gem of a place with delicious food, good service, and the best views. You can dine indoors or out, but the whole place is open-air. We asked what they had for the catch of the day and server Xiomara brought a whole fish right to the table! Talk about fresh. In the end, we had guacamole, crab croquettes, and fish and shrimp tacos. Highly recommend this for a meal when you’re in Puerto Morales.

This is such a fun place with excellent food and an outstanding view. The prices are higher, but that view! We really enjoyed our ceviche mixto and fish tacos. Excellent quality. The service was top notch, much like what we've seen throughout the town. So warm and inviting. This place deserves a much higher rating than what it's been getting.

It was SUPER windy the day we were there and that didn't matter. This is a great spot, prices are a little elevated but they provided great service. Good was good too!

We had the Ceviche Micro Tostado (very fresh and nice portion) and the shrimp tacos. Very delicious! Great margaritas and mojitos. All at a very fair price. Right above the beach in the palm trees. This will be a regular stop in Puerto Morelos

I had the grilled dorado. My wife had grilled tuna with risotto. Both were amazing! There was a torrential rainstorm while we dined causing an extraordinary clatter on the tin roof. We had to shout to each other to talk, but it was an exciting time. The staff rolled down some canvas covers to stop patrons from getting soaked. It created a warmer and more intimate dining experience for us. We loved our meal here. Highly recommended!

We visited this restaurant twice during our stay in Puerto Morelos. The first time we sat in the upper level in a boat. The second time we sat at the edge next to the beach. The second was pretty windy and it actually cooled our food. The wait staff comes around with the fresh fish catch of the day on a stringer. If you choose this, the fish generally feeds 4. We selected individual entrees. Both times we were very pleased with the food. The margaritas come in frozen tin cups, which is refreshing in the hot humid air. The husband got the oysters Rockefeller both times. I got the Thai shrimp curry the first time and the tuna steak the second time. I thought it odd when they asked me how I wanted the tuna steak cooked. I said medium rare, but should have gone with rare. Our companions got the lobster fettuccine and said it was amazing. We can't wait to go back.
